On the morning of October 11, GMU held the Opening Ceremony for the Freshmen in the Huangjin Campus. GMU leaders, Li Gongjin, Liu Qian, Zeng Zexin, Chen Liang, Huang Ruizhong, Xiao Shuhui, Zhang Xiaokang and Peng Weijie, attended the ceremony. Vice President Ye Junming served as the host.

The ceremony began with the solemn national anthem. Luo Xiangjie, an undergraduate representative majoring in stomatology of Batch 2020 of the School of the First Clinical Medicine Sciences (SFCMS), Zhang Pengyan, a graduate representative majoring in medical image of Class 3 of Batch 2020, made speeches successively. Xie Yanmei, a teacher representative from SFCMS, told her anti-pandemic story in Hubei Province, and she also told the freshmen to strengthen professional confidence.

President Liu Qian, on behalf of GMU, extended a warm welcome to all freshmen, congratulated the freshmen for having withstood the double test of pandemic and the national college entrance examination, and expressed his gratitude to the parents and teachers who nurtured the excellent students. Liu Qian told the real stories of 115 medical workers of GMU’s affiliated hospitals which gave full display to the “Hongyi” spirit under the theme of “Work Hard to Become the Guardian of People’s Health”. He also asked the freshmen to work hard on the “Five Skills”, namely, the morality, benevolence, medical skill, academic skill and arts.

Being a GMU member one day, he/she will love GMU all his/her life.

The ceremony ended up with the School Song.
The participants included the directors of the Division of Academic Affairs, Students Affairs Division, Youth League Committee, Graduate School, etc, the Deans, and all the freshmen, with a total number of more than 3,000 students.
