On July 17, the International Education College (IEC) invited the policemen from the Traffic Police Brigade and Exit-Entry Administration of Public Security Sub-bureau of Rongjiang District of Ganzhou to give a summer safety education lecture for international students.
The lecture covered topics such as traffic safety and immigration laws and regulations. The traffic policemen made introduction to international students on driver’s licenses, traffic regulations, common traffic violations, and the corresponding measures. Additionally, they organized interactive games related to traffic safety. They also screened numerous videos of traffic accidents, which had a profound impact on the international students and played an important role in helping them develop a concept of safe travel by following traffic regulations.
After that, the Exit-Entry Administration policemen introduced the “Exit and Entry Administration Law of the People’s Republic of China” and emphasized the legal provisions concerning international students. They explained topics such as temporary accommodation registration, types of visas, foreign nationals’ violations, and corresponding penalties. With the help of numerous case studies on violations, they effectively helped international students develop a sense of abiding by laws and regulations. The policemen also urged international students to comply with Chinese laws and regulations, cherish the opportunity to study in China, strive for academic achievements, and become messengers for cultural exchanges between China and other countries.
The lecture received high recognition and support from the international students. MALIK, a Batch 2021 Pakistani student, said, “This seminar is very practical because many of us are first-time visitors to China and are unfamiliar with Chinese laws and regulations. Thanks to the well-organized event by the IEC and the excellent presentations by the police officers.” HARIS, a Batch 2022 Pakistani student, expressed his gratitude to the police officers by singing a hometown song.
IEC is committed to ensuring the safety and stability of international students on campus, considering it as the foundation of the educational work. In the future, IEC will continue to explore more avenues to enhance safety education for international students and effectively promote GMU’s educational work.
