On the morning of April 25th, the school's first international cultural festival and 2026 International Chinese Language Day event – was successfully held at the Rongjiang campus.
Over 1,000 people, including members of the school's Party and government committees (Zhang Xiaokang, Huang Ruizhong, Sheng Yaohuan, Liu Zhiqing, Li Hongliang, Liao Zhiqing, Lai Chuanjing, Xu Huaping), heads of the international cooperation and exchange departments of institutions within Ganzhou City, representatives from Longnan City and Xin Feng County, and students from both China and abroad, participated in the event.
School Party Secretary and Principal Zhang Xiaokang officially opened the event and visited each exhibition booth, engaging in friendly conversations with both domestic and international students to gain a thorough understanding of the cultural exhibits and traditional Chinese cultural experience projects. He expressed his full appreciation for the students' meticulous preparation.
The event kicked off with a spectacular cultural performance lineup, opening with the dragon-and-lion dance Auspicious Lions Leading the Dragon presented by Xinfeng County. A diverse array of acts followed one after another, including an African-style dance, English songs performed by Chinese students, martial arts displays by international students from Jiangxi University of Science and Technology, and a poetry recitation of Saying Goodbye to Cambridge Again. The dance Copper Coin Blossoms from Xinfeng County embodied the rich folk customs of the Gannan Hakka people, while the skit Weaving Ribbons in the Hakka Enclosure Houses by Longnan City vividly showcased the traditional Hakka ribbon-weaving craft and the cultural charm of the "World Capital of Hakka Enclosure Houses". The joint rendition of We Are the World by Chinese and international students brought the atmosphere to a climax, fully embodying the spirit of international exchange, cooperation, friendship and unity.
Twenty-four booths were set up for the event, covering activities for International Chinese Language Day, local cultural tourism, intangible cultural heritage of southern Jiangxi, and international student culture. Centered on the celebration of International Chinese Language Day 2026, the event aimed to promote fine traditional Chinese culture, boost exchanges between Chinese and foreign civilizations, and showcase the abundant cultural tourism resources and unique intangible cultural heritage of the Gannan region.
At the international exhibition area, students from Pakistan, Tanzania, India, Canada, Zimbabwe and other countries displayed distinctive handcrafts, South Asian henna painting, African drums and characteristic local delicacies. The Chinese cultural booths drew huge crowds. Visitors could watch calligraphers brush Chinese characters at the traditional Chinese learning stall, trace the evolution of Chinese writing systems and join fun character-themed interactive games at the traditional Chinese painting booth, and enjoy melodious classical music at the folk music booth. The traditional Chinese medicine booth offered on-site experiences of acupuncture and tuina massage, allowing teachers and students to appreciate the unique appeal of traditional Chinese medicine culture. Jiangxi Vocational College of Environmental Engineering presented flower and grass rubbing printing and wood shavings craftsmanship, a perfect blend of natural beauty and ingenious handmade art. Xinfeng County featured intangible cultural heritage delicacies such as radish dumplings, while Longnan City exhibited Hakka woven ribbons and miniature Hakka enclosure house models, enabling participants to experience the profound heritage of Gannan Hakka culture up close. Chinese and international students wandered freely between booths to learn new skills and sample cuisines from around the globe. The venue buzzed with constant laughter and cheer, fully reflecting the event’s theme "Joy Shared Across the Four Seas".
Integrating celebrations for International Chinese Language Day, cultural displays by international students from various countries, immersive Chinese cultural experiences and promotions of Hakka intangible cultural heritage, this event enabled Chinese and foreign teachers and students to deepen mutual understanding and forge closer friendships through hands-on interactions, fostering solidarity and amity. It added a brilliant international flair to the campus in spring.
