Li Gongjin Hosts the High-Level Talents Meeting

    On May 8, Li Gongjin, Secretary of GMU Party Committee, hosted the special session of GMU Party Committee in Huangjin Campus. He listened to the high-level talents work report and researched the work of high-level the talents. The leaders concerned attended the meeting.

    After the report, Li Gongjin pointed out that since the implementation of the strategy of strengthening GMU with more talents, the high-level talents achieved satisfactory results, including the following aspects: firstly, the total volume of Doctors with doctoral degrees of GMU doubled compared with that before 2017, and the proportion of Doctors among full-time teachers increased significantly; secondly, the quality of talents kept improving, the volume of talents at the third level and above kept increasing, and the role of talents was obvious. Over past years, GMU won the national natural science foundation and other high-level scientific research projects, enjoying the rapid growth of talent projects; thirdly, GMU faculty had a better understanding of the project of strengthening GMU with talents and had a better working philosophy.
    Li pointed out that there was still a big gap in the recruitment and education of talents in GMU. Although a lot of effort had been made, the total volume of high-level talents was still not enough. The talent level was not high enough and the structure was not reasonable enough. GMU attached insufficient importance to the work of talents and there still existed sluggishness.

    Li stressed that all the staff should work hard to strengthen GMU with high-level talents. First, all faculty should take the work of talents as a major task, pay close attention to it and fully realize that talents were the source of building a first-class application-oriented medical university. All the staff should abandon the traditional philosophy, respect the objective laws of talent training and actively make response to the reasonable requests of talents. Second, departments concerned should fulfill responsibilities, introduce more Doctors and vigorously promote internationalization of the Doctors. Third, departments concerned should further reform the personnel system and improve the incentive mechanism for talents. Last, all the staff should do well in talents service to provide a better environment.

    GMU President Liu Qian analyzed the problems existing in the work of high-level talents introduction in the early stage, and emphasized that departments concerned should master the details such as the source of doctors with doctoral degrees to carefully carry out the work of talent recruitment. To correctly handle the relationship among demand, supply, introduction and training in the talent work, GMU should not only vigorously introduce the urgently needed talents, but also vigorously train the existing talents so as to prevent the brain drain. And GMU should create an inclusive atmosphere to let the introduced high-level talents integrate into GMU as soon as possible and jointly make progress.
    GMU Vice-President Huang Ruizhong reported the achievements and disadvantages of GMU's high-level talents over past years.
    During the meeting, the Division of Personnel director and the dean of each school made reports on the development of high-level talents and the plan in the short future.
Heads of the relevant functional departments and deans attended the meeting.
