On the morning of October 29, the 54th Sports Meeting of GMU opened at the Ground Track Fields of the Huangjin Campus. GMU leaders Li Gongjin, Zhang Xiaokang, Zeng Zexin, Chen Liang, Huang Ruizhong, Ye Junming, Xiao Shuhui, Peng Weijie attended the opening ceremony and sat on the rostrum. The opening ceremony was presided over by Ye Junming, a member of the Party Committee and Vice President of GMU.

Zhang xiaokang stressed that the annual sports meeting was a review of the sports level and sports work results of all teachers and students, as well as a test of the competitive consciousness and team spirit of the majority of teachers and students and staff, and it was also a comprehensive display of the spirit of all teachers and staff. Afterwards, the School of Basic Medical Sciences (SBMS), the School of Nursing (SN), School of Humanities & Social Sciences (SHSS), the School of Rehabilitation (SR), the School of Pharmacy (SP), the School of Medical Information Engineering (SMIE), the School of Marxism (SM), the School of Public Health and Healthcare Management (SPH), the School of General Practice Medicine(SGPM), the Administration Organs, the School of the Third Clinical Medicine (STCM), the School of the Second Clinical Medicine (SSCM),the School of the First Clinical Medicine and other representatives, lined up neatly, chanting majestic slogans and passed the rostrum one by one. They were energetic, and performed various talent shows in front of the rostrum. The performances were either fashionable, vigorous, vigorous, or skilled, winning peaks of applause.
After the opening ceremony, a Tai Chi competition was held. the audience were impressed a lot by the athletes' calm and relaxed performances.
It is known that this Sports Meeting will last for 3 days. More than 3,000 athletes from various departments and schools will compete fiercely in nearly 40 students’ competitions, and more than 40 teachers’ competitions, including 4×100 meters running for rescuing patients, 100 meters running for doubling stretcher, 100 meters running for single patient rescue and other sports events with distinctive medical characteristics.
