GMU Holds the National “Hongyi Spirit & Health China Strategy”Seminar

GMU members inherit the red medical or Hongyi spirit and give impetus to Health China. As one of the series of activities for the 80th anniversary of the founding of GMU, the National “Hongyi Spirit & Health China Strategy”Seminar was held in the Huangjin Campus on September 29,sponsored by the Red Medical Spirit Education Alliance(RMSEA)and Gannan Medical University (GMU), and co-sponsored by the School of Marxism, the History of Medicine and Healthcare in the Central Soviet Area and the Health China Strategic Research Center. Experts and scholars across China working in the medical and health front got together to have exchange concerning the development of “Hongyi Spirit & Health China Strategy. Tang Shuiqing, the vice-president Federation of Social Science of Jiangxi Province, Li Gongjin, Secretary of the Party Committee of GMU, Yao Li, the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences in the Institute of Contemporary and Ph.D. Supervisor, attended the opening ceremony. Zeng Zexin, deputy secretary of the Party Committee of GMU, hosted the ceremony.

Zhu Jinghai, the chairman of the RMSEA and the former deputy secretary of the Party Committee of Chinese Medical Sciences University, delivered a video address at the opening ceremony, saying that the red medical spirit is the embodiment of the spirit of Chinese revolution, such as Jinggang Mountain Spirit, Soviet Spirit, Long March Spirit and Yan'an Spirit in the medical and health front.

Entrusted by Luo Yongbing, chairman of Jiangxi Federation of Social Science, Jiang Shuiqing extended warm congratulations on the opening of the seminar and expressing high respect to the experts and scholars in the field of Chinese research of red Medicine spirit and health on behalf of the Jiangxi Federation of Social Science. Tang pointed out that red medical spirit is an important part of red gene. Under the theme of “Inheriting the Spirit of Red Medicine and give impetus to Health China’’, this seminar conformed to the spirit of the new era and the national development strategy. And it enjoyed important theoretical and practical significance for promoting the spirit of red medicine, inheriting the red gene and promoting the implementation of the Health China strategy.

Li Gongjin delivered a speech at the opening ceremony. On behalf of all the teachers and students of GMU, he expressed a warm welcome to the experts and scholars, the warm congratulations to the convening of the conference, and the heartfelt thanks to all the leaders and friends who had been caring and supporting the development of GMU.

Li pointed out that the spirit of red medicine is an important content in the great spiritual spectrum of the founding of the CPC, that the central Soviet Area is the birthplace of red medical and people's medical education, and it is significant on the development of people health undertakings in the Soviet Area, and that through this seminar, all could have in-depth exchange, pool wisdom and build consensus, achieve academic accomplishments, inherit the red gene from generation to generation, and carry forward the spirit of red medicine.

Yao Li, the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences researcher in the Institute of Contemporary and Ph.D. Supervisor, Li Honghe, the professor and Ph.D. Supervisor of Henan Normal University, Liu Shanjiu, chief expert and deputy director of the History of Medicine and Healthcare in the Central Soviet Area and the Health China Strategic Research Center of GMU, delivered keynote speeches respectively, telling the stories on the evolution of new China's health policy, the red doctor during the Anti-Japanese War period and the early health policy of the Communist Party of China. 9 experts and scholars from Nanchang University, Jinggangshan University, Jiangxi University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Chengde Medical University, Chengdu Medical University, Donggu Revolutionary Base Research Institute and other universities/units, had exchange at the meeting.

Before the meeting, participants also visited the Red Medline History Museum of GMU, knowing the history of red healthcare undertakings in old revolutionary base area in southern Jiangxi province.

The seminar received more than 40 academic papers, and nearly 100 experts and scholars across China participated in the seminar.
