On the morning of September 26, the 14th (72 ones in total) "Rongjiang Forum" of GMU in 2023 began. Dr. Leng Xiaomin from the School of Basic Medicine Sciences (SBMS) and Professor Xiao Jianhui, director of the Institute of Medicine and Health at Zunyi Medical University, delivered lectures respectively. GMU Vice-president Peng Weijie attended the forum, and Professor Wan Shaogui presided over it.
Leng Xiaomin, titled "Research on the Function and Mechanism of METTL3 in Osteosarcoma", elucidated that METTL3 can promote the proliferation and migration of osteosarcoma by mediating m6A modification of a constant chain non coding RNA. He also described the research on TUG1 in OS and its mechanism of action and basic principles. Finally, he pointed out that METTL3 can stabilize the expression of TUG1.
Xiao Jianhui, titled "New Approaches and Practices for in vitro Expansion and Empowerment of Stem Cells", narrated the major discovery timeline of stem cell research, introduced the types of stem cells, the therapeutic potential of stem cells, and their clinical experiments. He also elaborated on the response measures for "inactivation" of in vitro expansion, as well as the mechanisms by which immune cells delay or reverse MSC aging and achieve MSC empowerment.
The forum attracted teachers and graduates from SBMS, School of Rehabilitation, Scientific Research Center, and the Cardiovascular and Cerebrovascular Disease Prevention and Control Key Laboratory of the Ministry of Education of China to participate.
