On the afternoon of December 8, GMU carried out the Laboratory Safety Drill in 2023 in the Fifth Experiment Building. GMU Vice-President Sheng Yaohuan attended it and delivered a speech. Leaders from Security Division, Asset Management Division, Academic Affairs Division, Scientific Research Center, and each school in charge of laboratories, the laboratories management personnel as well as representatives of teachers and students, attended the drill.

Sheng Yaohuan emphasized that department concerned must attach importance to the laboratory safety work, strictly implement the requirements of the "Safety Regulations for College Laboratories" and the "Fire Safety Management Regulations for College Laboratories", did regular safety inspections to various laboratories, and rectified any problem in a timely manner, and that departments must develop fine safety habits, standardize safety behaviors, promote safety culture, eliminate safety accidents, and effectively fulfill the responsibility of “promoting development and ensuring safety”, providing safety guarantees for teaching, scientific research etc.

The participating teachers, students, and various departments actively had fine cooperation and completed the various agendas of the drill in an orderly manner.
