On June 6, the International Education College (IEC) organized international students to visit the Xinlu Village Residents’ Service Center in Rongjiang District for the Dragon Boat Festival cultural activity, aiming to let international students gain a deep understanding and experience of China’s Dragon Boat Festival culture.

During the activity, the residents of Xinlu Village warmly welcomed the international students and provided them with a detailed introduction of the customs of the Dragon Boat Festival. In the quiz competition link, the international students actively participated, and eagerly answered questions about the Dragon Boat Festival, creating a lively atmosphere on the spot.

The next links involved making bracelets, wrapping Zongzi, and making sachets. The residents of Xinlu Village taught the international students how to make bracelets step by step, how to wrap glutinous rice, red dates, and other ingredients in bamboo leaves, as well as how to make sachets.

The international students tasted the Zongzi they had wrapped by themselves. They all said that this activity made them gain a deeper understanding of China’s Dragon Boat Festival culture and experience the charm of traditional Chinese culture, and that this activity also promoted cultural exchanges between China and other countries and deepened the friendship between the international students and the residents of Xinlu Village.

This Dragon Boat Festival cultural activity not only let international students experience the unique charm of the Dragon Boat Festival, but also made them more affectionate towards GMU and China. And international students said they were willing to contribute to the promotion of Sino-foreign cultural exchanges.
