In order to promote the reform and development of medical talents training, GMU held the Seminar on Medical Talents Training on the afternoon of September 30. President Liu Qian attended the meeting and made a speech. Vice President Ye Junming, Vice President Peng Weijie, and over 30 leaders of the relevant departments and Schools attended the meeting.

    During the meeting, the participants studied the Guidance of the General Office of the State Council on Accelerating the Innovative Development of Medical Education (Issued by the State Council No. 34 in 2020), President Xi Jinping’s important instructions on graduate education and the article “To Build a Strong Public Health System and Provide a Strong Guarantee for People’s Health”. In addition, the participants also combined with the actual situation of GMU to the above articles for discussion.  
    Liu Qian stressed that at the critical moment of GMU development, everyone should deeply understand the spiritual connotation of The Guidance on Accelerating the Innovative Development of Medical Education and learn the key content. And GMU should make plans in advance, explore new mechanisms and methods and actively seize new opportunities. What’s more, GMU should further promote the joint training of doctoral students, expand the number of postgraduate training majors, and comprehensively accelerate the innovative development of medical education, so as to provide more and better high-quality medical talents for the society.

    Liu Qian combined the spirit of President Xi Jinping’s “To Build a Strong Public Health System and Provide a Strong Guarantee for People’s Health” in delivering his lecture on “the Mission and Responsibility of Medical Universities under the Pandemic Crisis”. His lecture profoundly analyzed the thoughts brought by the pandemic, explained what the medical community can do during the pandemic, and what medical universities can do, which clarified the direction for GMU to build a scientific public health talents training system.
