On the morning of September 15, chaired by Dr Jiang Feng and attended by the Vice-President Peng Weijie, GMU 11th Rongjiang Forum was held in the Scientific Research Center. The relevant professors, doctors and over 30 representatives of teachers and students attended the forum.
    Dr Li Jian from the School of Pharmacy (SP) reported his achievement on “Structure Analysis of Drug Target and Structure Based Drug Discovery and Optimization”, and introduced the rapid method of lead compound and candidate compound for novel drugs through SBDD (Structure based drug design). He explained that the protein structure information not only illuminated the structure-activity relationship, but also revealed the binding modes, bioactive conformations, new binding pockets and allosteric binding sites, all of which will open up new and diverse pathways for drug discovery.

    Dr Xie Yuanbin from the School of Basic Medicine Sciences (SBMS) reported his recent achievement on “GONAD—A Gene Editing Technique in Mice Independent of Microinjection”. He introduced the fastest method to produce transgenic mice in the world, namely, GONAD, as well as the Mechanism of NEK3 Point Mutation Causing Cortical Malformation, which was a project being done by using GONAD technology. 

    During the forum, the participants aroused a heated discussion.
