On September 20, President Liu Qian attended the Launch Meeting of the Medical Association on the West Side of the Taiwan Strait (MAWSTS) held at Wenzhou Medical University (WMU) and he was elected Vice-Chairman of the association.
    The MAWSTSwas jointly initiated by WMU, Fujian Medical University, Fujian University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Xiamen Medical University, Shantou University, Lishui University, GMU and other universities. During the preliminary meeting, the Charter and Declaration of the Association were adopted, and Liu Qian was elected as the Vice-Chairman of the association. During the launch meeting in the next day, Du Yubo, the President of China Association of Higher Education, Lin Huiqing, the Vice-President of China Association of Higher Education, Wang Qiming, the Director of Higher Education Department of the Ministry of Education, Yang Baofeng and Lin Dongxin, Academicians of Chinese Academy of Engineering, Wang Songling, Academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences, and other experts successively made keynote speeches and academic reports. President Liu Qian, on behalf of GMU, made a speech on the general situation of GMU.

    According to the Charter and Declaration of the Association, the association will give full play to the national strategy advantages of the cities on the west side of the Taiwan Strait, promote the discipline construction, talent training, teachers team construction, scientific and technological innovation, society services and the all-round cooperation and exchange as well as the rapid development of medical education-research-medical care-industry-emergency control of the association, which aim to contribute to the Health China Strategy.
