On September 1, GMU President Liu Qian gave the 1^st Surgery Class to the students of Class 7 and 8 of Batch 2017.

    Liu Qian used 3 newborn cases of aproctia, hypertrophic pyloric stenosis and congenital magacolon to arouse students’ interest, and used 3 questions to connect with the teaching, namely “What is surgery”, “How to learn surgery well” and “The transition between medicine science and clinical medicine”. Then he combined GMU’s anti-pandemic cases with the introduction of the Surgery to conduct the teaching activity. He integrated the philosophy “Saving lives as the duty of medical workers” with his class and emphasized the importance of patients’ lives.

    During the class, Liu Qian interacted with the students enthusiastically and encouraged them to express their opinions through the PK teaching mode. The students thought that President Liu Qian’s class was humorous but rigorous, with clear explanation and concise analysis, which deepened their understanding of surgery. They said that they will cherish the learning opportunities and strive to become the medical talents with virtues and skills.
