On the morning of September 5, GMU held the Enlistment Farewell Meeting for Students in 2020 in the Huangjin Campus. GMU Vice-President Ye Junming, the relevant leaders of the Military Department of Party Committee, Students Affairs Division, the Communist Youth League Committee, the Division of Academic Affairs, the Division of Enrolment and Vocation Guidance and the Schools, as well as 8 enlisted graduates from Zhanggong District, attended the meeting.

    The meeting began in the solemn national anthem. Wang Sikun, the Director of the Military Department of Party Committee, read out the order issued by the Conscription Office of Zhanggong District on approving 2 students for direct recruitment sergeant and 6 students for military service. Ye Junming presented the ribbons, flowers and rewards to each enlisted student.
    He Jiansheng, the direct recruitment sergeant from SBMS of Batch 2015 majoring in Clinical Medicine Sciences，delivered a speech as the representative, saying that he will strive to win the honor for GMU. 
    Ye Junming extended congratulations to the enlisted students, and he also paid tribute to their parents.
    Ye Junming demanded that the enlisted students must intensify study, improve political quality, strictly obey the military disciplines and embody the painstaking spirit of GMU in the troops.
    It is reported that 168 students of GMU applied to join the army, including 82 graduates. In 2020, a total of 8 students joined the army in Zhanggong District, which they will serve in the Army, Navy and Armed Police Force after pre-training. And nearly 20 other students will be on active service in various branches of the army across the country.
