On the morning of August 1, the “August 1”Meeting was held in the Zhanggong Campus to celebrate the 93rd anniversary of the founding of the People’s Liberation Army. GMU Vice-President Ye Junming and the representatives of military families, martyred families and retired soldiers, attended the meeting. Wang Sikun, the Director of the People's Armed Forces Department, hosted the meeting.

Wang Sikun reported the armed work and national defense education of GMU to the leaders and representatives at the meeting. Chang Xiu, a 95-year-old veteran recalled his memories of the War of Resistance against Japan, the War of Liberation, the construction and the process of the reform and development of new China. He reminded that everyone should have a full understanding of the new conditions and problems facing China's national security, keep alert to the world situation, and be ready to work hard for the reunification and the prosperity of the country.

The attendees expressed their pride and delight for the national defense construction and military reform of China.
Ye Junming, on behalf of GMU Party Committee, extended holiday greetings to all military families, martyred families and retired soldiers. He also extended sincere thanks to them for their selfless dedication to national defense construction and the development of GMU. He hoped that all of them can continue to carry forward the fine style of soldiers and make contributions to the country and GMU.
