On June 22, Professor Wang Jianbin, the Dean of School of Basic Medicine Sciences of Nanchang University, was invited to give a lecture “Tumor Metabolic Reprogramming and Occurrence and Development of Tumor” in GMU, which was attended by many teachers and students.
Professor Wang Jianbin introduced the biochemical characteristics in detail based on the preva lence of metabolic abnormalities in tumor cells and he systematically explained the relationship between these characteristics and tumor growth, invasion and metastasis. In addition, he identified the key metabolic pathways, targets and biomarkers that tumor cells relied on for survival, and designed the corresponding intervention strategies in order to prevent and treat tumors more effectively.
Professor Wang actively interacted with the attendees and patiently answered the questions. After the lecture, the leaders of the School of Basic Medicine Sciences of GMU had a discussion with Professor Wang in terms of scientific research, teaching and the future development of GMU, and they hoped to strengthen cooperation and exchange with Nanchang University.
Professor Wang Jianbin, a Second-Class Professor, a Doctoral Supervisor, and the Dean of the School of Basic Medicine Sciences of Nanchang University, received his doctorate from the Chinese University of Hong Kong in 1995 and then became a postdoctoral fellow in the State University of New York. He entered the Cornell University as the researcher and the senior researcher successively in 2001. He has published more than 30 articles in the international core journals such as Cancer Cell, Nature Cell Biology, Cell Research, Autophagy and so on.
