On the morning of June 30, the Graduation Ceremony in 2020 was held in the Huangjin Campus. GMU’s leaders, Liu Qian, Zeng Zexin, Huang Ruizhong, Ye Junming, Xiao Shuhui, Zhang Xiaokang, and other deans of the 8 schools attended the ceremony.
    The ceremony started with the national anthem. Vice-President Ye Junming read out the name list of the Outstanding Graduates. And GMU’s leaders awarded the Certificate of Honor to the representatives of the outstanding graduates.

    Fan Guifen, a student from the Class 1 of Batch 2015 of Anesthesiology majors from School of the First Clinical Medicine Sciences, the overseas student IFEANYI CHRISTIAN ONYEBUCHI, and the postgraduates’ representative Wu Jing, respectively delivered a speech to express their gratitude and best wishes to GMU. Ouyang Songmao, the hero of the medical aid team in Hubei Province, shared his stories in Hubei Province. And Luo Xiaoting, the Associate Dean of School of Basic Medicine Sciences, expressed congratulations for the graduates on behalf of teachers.
    President Liu Qian delivered a speech under the theme To be a Person Needed by the Country and Society. He pointed out a man who wanted to be needed by the country and society ought to be patriotic and started with loving his country. The young people, facing the complex international situation, should shoulder the responsibility of national prosperity and rejuvenation in the new era. Young people should realize that being required by the country and society was both a kind of happiness and recognition.

    Liu Qian stressed that a medical worker should view saving lives as his responsibility. During the fight against the COVID-19, besides the excellent medical skills, what moved us more were the selfless dedications made by medical workers. The FAHGMU, SAHGMU, TAHGMU sent 115 medical workers to Hubei Province, and countless workers and schoolfellows worked in the frontline, which fully displayed the responsibility, wisdom and strength of GMU.

    Liu Qian required students to master excellent skills. Medicine Sciences is a matter of life and health, it is also a discipline that attaches great importance to practices and innovation and emphasizes the cultivation of professional quality, clinical thinking and problem solving ability. If students insist on active and lifelong learning, they can shoulder responsibilities and develop strong characters. In the face of the pandemic, only by standing firmly, can people overcome it. And to be a person needed by the country and society, cultural heritage is essential. A country’s prosperity cannot be separated from people’s painstaking efforts, and a nation’s prosperity cannot be separated from the spiritual support.
