In May 17, President Xi Jinping’s letter to all Pakistani students in the University of Science and Technology Beijing (USTB) inspired overseas students in China during the global anti-pandemic period. And the letter aroused a heated discussion among GMU’s overseas students.
On the afternoon of May 29, GMU President Liu Qian held a meeting with the overseas students’ representatives from Pakistan, Cameroon, Zambia and India as well as all the teachers of School of International Education, which they studied President Xi Jinping’s letter together and shared their views.

Liu Qian extended his thanks to the overseas students’ understanding and support for GMU’s pandemic prevention and control work. And then he shared 3 points of view as follows:
Firstly, President Xi’s letter was not only for the Pakistani students of USTB, but also for all the overseas students and foreign friends in China. Although the letter was short, it was full of expectation.
Secondly, the Letter gave a full display to President Xi’s responsibility and international awareness of “Building a Community with a Shared Future for Mankind” as a leader of China. He hoped the overseas students to cherish what they had, work hard and make contributions to “Building a Community with a Shared Future for Mankind”. What’s more, he hoped overseas students to share their actual experiences in China with their families and friends so as to strengthen the connections between China and other countries.
Thirdly, President Xi’s Letter was both an inspiration and a new requirement for all overseas students and teachers. All the faculty in GMU should continue to promote the connotative development of GMU.
