On the morning of May 31, GMU held a kick-off meeting for the official kick-off of the School of Medical Technology (SMT) at the Huangjin Campus. Zhang Xiaokang, Secretary of the Party Committee and President of GMU, attended it and delivered a speech. Huang Ruizhong, a Member of the Party Committee and Vice-President of GMU, Secretary of the Party Committee of the School of the First Clinical Medicine Sciences (SFCMS) and the First Affiliated Hospital of GMU (FAHGMU), Sheng Yaohuan, a Member of the Party Committee and Vice-President of GMU, attended the meeting. Ye Junming, a Member of the Party Committee and Vice-President of GMU, presided over the meeting.

During the meeting, Huang Ruizhong read out the document of the SMT founding and relevant documents on cadre appointment.

Fan Qilan, Secretary of the Party Committee of SMT, reported on the founding affairs.  

On behalf of GMU, Zhang Xiaokang, extended warm congratulations to the official kick-off of SMT and put forward requirements: Firstly, SMT shall stand from the perspective of China and the Chinese people when dealing with problems and bravely shoulder the mission of the times. Secondly, SMT must clarify the work ideas and the development goals. Thirdly, SMT should strengthen communication and collaboration, and form a working synergy. GMU will provide strong support for the SMT development so as to obtain the doctoral degree authorization in the field of medical technology as soon as possible.

When presiding over the meeting, Ye Junming stressed that SMT shall fully recognize the founding importance of itself at first, and that SMT must strengthen the sense of responsibility and ensure the safe and smooth handover of work concerned. After the kick-off, there were still many tasks requiring the assistance or cooperation of various functional departments and relevant schools. Each department and school should strengthen communication and cooperation to ensure the smooth transition of various tasks.

More than 30 representatives from relevant departments/schools, the leadership team of SMT, the Preparatory Work Panel, as well as teachers, attended the meeting.
