Recently, the 6th "The Belt and Road" Global Youth English Speech Finals (GYESF) hosted by China Daily successfully ended in Wuxi, Jiangsu Province. TALHA YASIR, a Batch 2021 international student from Pakistan, won the second prize with his outstanding English proficiency and excellent speech content. He also spoke as a student representative at the closing ceremony. It is the first time for GMU international students to participate in the contest and win such an award.

"The Belt and Road" Global Youth English Speech Contest was held by the 21st Century Newspaper under the China Daily. It was first established in 1996 as the "21st Century Cup" National English Speech Contest. This contest attracts nearly 10,000 participants from over 50 countries and regions every year, with only one participant from each country advancing to the global finals. On behalf of Pakistan, TALHA YASIR entered the global finals of "The Belt and Road" GYESF.

In this contest, TALHA YASIR participated with the theme of "Civilization: Clash And Coexistence". With a unique perspective and profound insights, he shared his experience of studying in Gannan Medical University, as well as his understanding and perception of "The Belt and Road" initiative, which won unanimous praise from the judges and the audience, and finally won the second prize. He proudly stated in his speech, saying that he is a student of Gannan Medical University, that it is a great honor for him to have the opportunity to participate, and that this opportunity is closely related to the broad perspective of international dissemination of China's stories during peacetime.

In recent years, GMU has actively promoted the international dissemination of stories about the new era among international students studying in GMU. In 2024, GMU established the China Story International Communication Studio, and TALHA YASIR is a student member of the studio. The studio's works have gained significant influence on the international social platform INS. The award of TALHA YASIR further demonstrates the positive achievements of GMU's international students in telling Chinese stories and international communication work.
