On August 26, 8 international students from the International Education College (IEC) of GMU came to the blood donation site next to the First Affiliated Hospital of GMU (FAHGMU) to participate in voluntary blood donation activity.
These international students are conducting a one-year clinical medical internship at the FAHGMU. During the internship break, they spontaneously made an appointment to donate blood together, contributing to those in need. Under the directions of the medical staff, the international students completed the registration, physical examination, and blood donation process in sequence. More than half said that they donate blood every year, and that this is their second time donating blood since returning to GMU to study after the pandemic.
CHAMANTH SAI KALYAN DOGUPARTHI, an international student from India, said, "As a medical student, I deeply understand the importance of blood for patients. Donating blood is not only about helping others, but also a practice of one's professional spirit." Indian student SRUTHI MENDU was unable to donate blood in that she did not meet the conditions for blood donation, and she even felt very sad.
IEC always actively encourages and organizes international students to participate in social volunteer activities. The voluntary blood donation activity is one of them, which not only reflects GMU training of social responsibility among international students, but also the best interpretation of the doctors’ vocational spirit.
